The Single-Best Bit of Self-Improvement Advice I Can Give…

I get asked a lot of questions on Twitter (@jdbloodstone), but I received one the other day that really stopped me in my tracks.  Normally, I get questions that can be answered quickly without much thought, but this one made me reflect on my past and the path I took to get to where I am today.  The question was simple… too simple, perhaps.  The questions was this:

Escape Velocity: From the Mailbag

It has been a while since my last post.  I suppose I was just waiting for the right topic to come along.  Recently, a reader sent me an e-mail that got me thinking about personal failure and how to come back from it.  Essentially, one needs to see their failure NOT as something negative but as feedback that is simply suggesting that a current course of thinking, feeling, and acting has come to an end.  Additionally, one needs to see their situation as a chance to start over.  My response to this e-mail was more in-depth than I expected it to be and I thought it was good enough to share with all of you who may be experiencing what the reader is going through.  I have included the original e-mail from the reader below (with permission) as well as my response.  Take a few minutes to read them and let me know if you think my response can be helpful to someone in a similar situation.

I have preserved all of the original punctuation and formatting.  I’ve also included my response.  So, what do YOU think?  Did I miss the mark?  I’d love to hear what you think.  Leave me a comment at the bottom.

Escape Velocity Pep-Talk #2

This post is part two of a multi-part post featuring the original Escape Velocity Pep-Talks written by J.D. Bloodstone.  Originally written in 2008, these pep-talks were a supplemental weekly e-mail course sent to people who downloaded Think & Grow Balls! in its original e-book format.  These newsletters were recently discovered in an archived folder on an old computer after having been lost by the hosting provider and feared lost forever.  I am happy to report that they will be released on this blog over the coming months.

Napoleon Hill’s Carnegie Secret Revealed!

People are searching for the Carnegie Secret so intensely that they’re willing to pay good money for it.  But, before they do… they should know something about the secret:  it cannot be purchased for money… and, anyone who tries to sell it for a monetary price is a fraud.  Let me explain.  If Napoleon Hill wanted you to know what the secret was, don’t you think he would have told you in Think & Grow Rich?  If he wanted to make money off of the secret don’t you think he would have done so in his lifetime?  Or, perhaps his foundation might have done so in the years after his death?

I thought so.
